Wicked Weekend

I love getting to wear an outfit for the first time with several of my favorite things in it.  I completely died over both this jacket AND these boots when I found them.  So obviously when I had the opportunity to wear them together for the first time, it was magical.  Okay, not 'magical' - but awesome.  What made it more awesome was that we went to see Wicked on Saturday, then to Tavern for dinner (any of you who follow me on Twitter saw the smorgasboard that was our dinner Saturday night there - thanks for the +5lbs in one night, Mindy).  Anyway, I saw Wicked a few years ago in Chicago and it was incredible.  I was so happy it came to Nashville this year, and it was just as awesome as I remembered it.

Obviously, I opted for a more grown-up celebration of Halloween this year (musical + dinner date) as opposed to seizing the opportunity to dress up like a slutty _______ (fill in the blank with nurse, teacher, student, angel, devil, witch, blah blah blah).  No offense to any readers who ran with that sort of idea, I'm just over it I suppose.  I'll open the floor for any rude comment retaliation now.  Thanks.

Rebecca Minkoff Linda jacket, Paraella blouse (similar), NY&Co jeans, Elie Tahari boots (from TJ Maxx!! - here in gray or similar here in black), Michael Kors watch, Bauble necklace from Woo Nashville (similar), Francesca's Collection clutch (similar), Ann Taylor Loft ring (similar), old ring (similar), Lancome L'Absolue Rouge in Jezabel

  6. I can definitely understand the dying part- the jacket and boots are killer! This outfit looks gorgeous and so does your hair, I'm loving the softness of it :)
It sounds like you had a great Saturday too- Wicked is one of my favorites and I completely agree with your thoughts on costumes... I mean seriously? It's just not cute haha

  7. OMG! LOVE the jacket and the boots! You look fantastic! I haven't dressed up for Halloween in....at least 10+ years. YIKES. I'm getting old. But proud to say I never dressed up as a "slutty ________". I tend to go for elegant and sophisticated versus slutty, even if it's supposedly 'appropriate' one night a year. As my husband says, "Only your man should see that, in the privacy of your bedroom." LOL. So anyway, I DID dress up this year, ended up loving my DIY Medusa costume! Did you see my post? :)

  12. Love that jacket and those boots are fabulous. I have a costume post on my blog (but the pics are from last year at a Halloween Wedding). You read that right, a Halloween Wedding! I am not dressing up this year and am okay with that. Love this look!

  15. How dare you hate on slutty girl costumes?! You're just jealous and... nah, just kidding. I haven't done a slutty costume in a while. If I ever do one again, it'll be completely ridiculous, like "slutty amoeba" or "slutty box of cereal."

Anyway, love your jacket and now I kinda want to see Wicked!

  20. This jacket is AWESOME. I did dress up for Halloween but I still avoided the 'sexy____' costumes. I really love the holiday though, so I was Roger Rabbit and I convinced my boy-toy to dress as Jessica Rabbit, we had a great time. :)

  22. Great outfit! Very grown-up and sophisticated. I normally do grown-up Halloween stuff, but this year I decided to live a little and wore a semi-sexy outfit. Like, it was more than just underwear, but I was a little cold. But that's okay.

  26. I need your boots in my life right now!

My Halloween costume was supposed to be a super scary vampire, but when the dress I ordered arrived it was more in the slutty genre. I ran with it.

I figure, I'll leave being a Halloween cliche behind when I become a mommy or leave my twenties behind. Whichever comes first, haha! :)
