FAQ

These are a few of the questions that I get asked pretty frequently... Feel free to leave any other questions in the comment section, or send me an e-mail.  Thanks for reading!

What kind of camera do you use?
     I don’t. But The Photog uses a Nikon D3100

What made you decide to start a blog?
You should read this. It’s totally fair if you think that seems like too much to read, so here is the short              version: I was burnt out at my job, love fashion, and needed a creative outlet.

What do you do for a living?
I’m an IT finance manager for a Fortune 500 healthcare company. As exhausting and stressful as I make it it is - I love it. I work with the best people, for a great company, and there is never a dull moment. Sleep is overrated, right?

How did you come up with the name ‘Pencil Skirts and Lattes?’
The old fashioned way. I knew I wanted to start a blog, but didn’t know what I wanted to name it. So I took to the method of writing down lots of words with a positive affiliation for me and combining them. Once I put ‘Pencil Skirts’ and ‘Lattes’ together I thought: yep, that’s me. :) Clothes and coffee, the 2 great loves of my life. You should know that because of this sweet little angel and my love for cocktails, it was almost ‘Shih Tzus and Champagne.’ Just kidding. (Kindof).

What keeps you inspired to blog about fashion?
Other fashion and lifestyle blogs (check here for my must reads), fashion magazines and books, Pinterest, and constant people watching. I don’t watch much TV anymore, but if I do it’s almost always for the fashion inspiration over the story line.

Do you feel like you have to dress like a fashion blogger every day now that you started this blog?
Nope. I try to most of the time, but some days it just isn’t happening. (I wrote this post specifically to answer this question). Truthfully, there is such a huge difference in expressing your style with an outfit and dressing like a fashion blogger. I always dress in a way that expresses my style, but having the blog does increase the pressure for over-the-top, blog worthy outfits. I admire the bloggers who put time and effort into that every single day... I’m good to focus on it 3-4 times a week.

What is the best way to build a following and readership for a blog?  How do you get brands and advertisers interested in working with your blog?
I started to type a succinct, FAQ-appropriate answer to this question and realized that I'm entirely too passionate about this topic to answer this question in anything less than a dedicated blog post.  Once I do post my thoughts, I'll link it back here.

Can I interview you for my blog?
     Sure. Shoot me an e-mail.
