Business Casual with an Edge

This blouse is delicate and sweet with it's neutral color, sheer fabric and lace inset.  It is also really versatile - can be glammed up or dressed down, so I find myself reaching for it in my closet constantly.  For work, I decided to give it just a bit of edge and glam it up a little with the accessories and pairing it with a pair of (ridiculously comfortable) skinny black trousers and peep toe platforms.

Sunny Sunday Afternoon

So, yesterday it was surprisingly cool and rained almost ALL DAY.  Went to brunch with friends, shopped, ran some errands - it poured down rain.  I thought - what can I do to cheer myself up in this rain??

Brightly-colored mani/pedi?  Check
Comfortable outfit with shorts and lighweight summer blazer?  Check
Fun, bright floral print scarf? Check.

Then, just as I was about to give up on any chance of sunshine.... it started to peek through the clouds a bit.  Just in time for some outfit pics :)

F21 blazer and tee, AT Loft shorts, NY &Co scarf and earrings, Target wedges (old), Michael Kors watch, D&G aviators, OPI 'Tasmanian devil made me do it" polish

I love pairing basics (like these plain white chino shorts and lightweight linen blazer) with mixed prints. I think this striped tee and bright patterned scarf are the perfect compliment to each other. I've found that as long as I stick with the same color family and layer on pieces as I go, this look really works.  I also try to keep accessories minimal for this look as there is already quite a bit going on here :)

Easy Breezy Casual Friday...

Clearly I love polished skirts and dressy trousers for work, but every week when Friday comes around, I am OH SO THRILLED to be able to throw on a pair of jeans and comfy flats!! Add in this lightly textured cotton shirt, minimal accessories, and air-dryed hair (loving taking a break from heat styling this summer) and voila! It's like I'm a different person :)

Have a FABULOUS weekend, everyone!!!! :)

A POP of Color....

Karen Millen cardigan, Ann Taylor Factory blouse, Banana Republic skirt, Vince Camuto pumps, Michael Kors watch, NY&Co Earrings, other jewelry (old),  Eliza B clutch from Coco Bay Boutique

Isn't it amazing how one fabulous, bright piece of clothing can completely brighten your day and make you feel instantly chic?!  Such is the case with this favorite Karen Millen cardigan of mine.  While I stuck with neutrals in the rest of the outfit, I thought this bright colored piece was the perfect addition to make this whole look pop.

Again, a typical work day outfit for me (not as fun as weekend attire, but I try....) - but this was classy, comfortable, chic, and I felt great all day wearing it.

Are there any items in your wardrobe that have this effect on your mood - making you feel like you can conquer anything the day throws your way?!  DO TELL.....

Be still my Heart...Style Inspiration

As soon as I saw this month's issue of Glamour with Blake Lively on the cover, I knew I had to have it.  I'm always impressed by editorial shoots like this, but WOW did these images take my breath away.  The clothes (I'll take one of each outfit please, thanks), the hair, the makeup, the styling, the photography, (not to mention drop-dead-gorgeous Blake), EVERYTHING about this spread was amazing.

I've always loved seeing what Blake will wear to the award shows and other red carpet events.  She always looks so chic and fabulous - and in this article she mentions that she doesn't even have a stylist!! (gasp) ;)  see.... some gals just know how to do it

Thought I'd share these as they were such an inspiration to me.  What do you ladies think of Blake's style?

Enjoy!

That 70s Chic

I love the look of high-waist, flare leg denim jeans and most other boho-inspired fashion for 2011.  Considering that I can't really wear this to work, I save these outfits for my weekend festivities.  I found this cute camisole at Francesca's Collection Boutique and knew just what I would wear it with!

Rosebud for Francesca's Collection camisole, Karen Millen jeans, Gianni Bini heels, Ralph Lauren belt, F21 earrings and bangles, Michael Kors watch, AT Loft short necklace and ring, random boutique long necklace and ring, Dolce and Gabbana aviators, Louis Vuitton bag, Essie geranium polish

The Details...

Are you loving the 70s/boho inspired looks for 2011?

Introducing: Pencil Skirts & Lattes!!

SOOOOO excited about this inaugural post for my blog!  This is a somewhat typical workday outfit for me. During the week, I don't have a lot of time in the mornings so I love throwing my air-dried hair up into a bun quickly and putting on a basic daytime makeup look for work...

J Crew blouse, Ann Taylor Loft skirt and rings, F 21 Necklace, NY&Co Earrings, Michael Kors watch, Coach bag, Francesca's Collection sunnies

the details....

Jessica Simpson pumps - these are too sassy and cute for words, and surpisingly comfy.  I'm not typically a fan of the brand, but I loved these as soon as I saw them.  They could turn any otherwise plain outfit into a chic look.  LOVE! I will be wearing these with a pair of jeans and a cute top on the weekends, oh yes....

Enjoy!
